Essay writing is more than just putting words on a page – it is about giving clarity, invoking emotions and shifting perspectives.
Students who study First Language English (0500) for IGCSE understand the pressure they’re under during exams. With every exam, they battle a strict time limit, texts with implicit meanings and demand for proper analysis – and that’s just one part of the paper!
IGCSE First Language English Writing Workshop is a focused workshop to equip students with the skills and methods of answering directed writing and essay questions in the exam. This workshop is conducted by a tutor who has 7 years of experience, and uses actual past papers as a starting point.
This workshop is suitable for students who want to familiarise themselves with the IGCSE First Language English exam requirements or to strengthen their writing skills as preparation for the exam.
By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- analyse directed writing text for implicit meaning
- argue the validity and relevance of points in texts
- be familiar with persuasive devices and non-fiction writing formats
- construct narrative essays that are compelling and vivid
- structure descriptive essays effectively
