Conquer Concepts in this Challenging Subject
Seen as the toughest subject by many students, Cambridge’s Lower Secondary English relies on a solid foundation of concepts taught from Year 5 onwards. Students not only need to understand the features of different text types, but also be able to identify literary devices and implicit meaning. These skills are valuable in ensuring they can work with the upper secondary English syllabus with no hitches.
This workshop aims to cover reading and writing skills (fiction and nonfiction) and is suitable for students Year 7 and above to establish these concepts, or for Year 9 students looking to reinforce their knowledge.
After the workshop, participants should be able to:
- recall structures used in fiction and nonfiction text
- understand answering styles for exam questions
- identify and explain literary devices used
- fully explain implicit meaning of words or phrases
- write essays that fulfill question and stylistic criteria
- create engaging fiction and non fiction writing
