Omar Mahmoud
Managing Director & Country Head of Global Banking

Omar Mahmoud is the Managing Director & Country Head of HSBC’s Global Banking division in Malaysia. He is a qualified barrister, called to the bar at the Inner Temple in London, and holds two degrees, one in Law and one in Finance. In his role, he leads a team of Relationship Account Managers for Large Local Corporates, Financial Institutions and Global Multinationals, along with onshore Advisory, Debt Capital Markets, Project, Infrastructure & Real Estate Finance, in addition to a Middle Office. He has broad experience across Asia Pacific and Europe, having worked in roles covering the UK, the Nordics, Ireland, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and now, Malaysia. His experience with HSBC includes working across each of the bank’s three core businesses: Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking and Retail Banking. He started his career as a graduate trainee, working within the bank’s Leveraged & Acquisition Finance division, before undertaking a variety of roles within Global Liquidity & Cash Management, Global Relationship Management, and Commercial Strategy.
Mily Liang
Head of Customer Value Management – Wealth & Personal Banking

Mily Liang has been with HSBC Malaysia for more than 13 years, managing a range of roles across Retail Banking and Wealth Management. Her current role is Head of Customer Value Management where she is responsible for Customer Proposition, Retail Asset products, Deposit products and Customer Experience. In her current role, Mily refreshed HSBC Premier proposition by introducing additional benefits and solutions that extend to Premier family members and deliver the flexibility that matches today’s less conventional lives. Most recently, Mily also oversees the launch of HSBC Malaysia digital account opening journey with 24/7 self-service machine for identification and verification process. Mily was previously the Chief Operating Officer for Retail Banking and Wealth Management. Prior to joining HSBC Malaysia, Mily was with a consulting firm supporting financial institutions in a range of mergers and acquisition, business transformation and reengineering.
Jon Chivers
Head of Wealth – Wealth & Personal Banking

Jon Chivers has over 30 years of experience in the HSBC Group working predominantly in Retail Banking and Wealth Management in the United Kingdom, Greece and Malaysia. Jon has been in the Malaysia business for over 12 years in a number of roles and his current role is Head of Wealth where he is responsible for running the Wealth and Insurance product, insights, regulatory and specialist sales teams with responsibility for the Wealth, Insurance and Foreign Exchange Profit and Loss. He has helped HSBC to be at the forefront of managing and growing wealth for clients in Malaysia. Before joining HSBC Malaysia, Jon was Head of Personal Financial Services for HSBC in Athens, Greece.
Tamara Lim
CEO & Founder, PrepWorks
MEng in Materials Science, Oxford University
Tamara attended Alice Smith International School in Kuala Lumpur and Wycombe Abbey School before obtaining her MEng degree in Materials Science from Oxford University. She was awarded an academic scholarship and several college prizes throughout her time at Trinity College, Oxford. Tamara then spent her 4th year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US doing research on “Biodegradable Bone Screws”
Following this, she joined Shell and worked for 9 years in various roles starting out as a Materials Engineer in The Netherlands followed by other more commercial roles in Business Analytics, Sales and Marketing. In 2015, Tamara left Shell to pursue her desire of helping more students from Malaysia reach their dream university and therefore started up PrepWorks.
Since then, PrepWorks has gotten 80% of their boarding school candidates into their top choices (some on scholarship and unconditional offers) and 67% of their university candidates into Oxford or Cambridge University. She has also personally coached over 40+ students in passing their interviews as well as tutored Critical Thinking, English, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Maths for the past 4 years.

Freda Liu is a vivacious persona who has lived and breathed business in the past decade with Malaysia’s only business radio station and has conducted over 5000 interviews. At BFM, her show Enterprise provides the tools to help business succeed, covering topics such as the startup scene, personal development, technology to organizational development.
